Origin
For years, women leaders in some LDS wards in the San Francisco Bay Area have been invited to sit on the stand. This practice has helped girls to see their leaders recognized and valued, and helped those girls to see how the church has a place for them. It has also allowed the leaders to look into the congregation and see who is missing or who needs support.
In November 2023, some of these wards were told to curtail the practice. However, it has been such a blessing in the lives of many that we want to make sure that the women leaders of the church know how much of a difference it has made and can make. From this was born an open letter to these leaders.
